Job description

Our client is a well established and successful property finance company and they are seeking to appoint a commercially minded, detail-oriented in-house lawyer to support their business. This role is central to ensuring the smooth and compliant execution of loan transactions, management of security documentation and legal oversight across the lending lifecycle. The successful candidate will work closely with the Directors, General Manager and external solicitors to manage risk, resolve issues and ensure excellence in the firm's legal processes.

Skills & Experience:

It is essential you possess the following:

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and a current New Zealand practising certificate (or eligibility for one);
  • 4-6+ years' PQE in property, banking & finance, or commercial law (private practice or in-house);
  • Strong understanding of property law, securities and lending transactions;
  • Excellent drafting skills and attention to detail;
  • Ability to manage multiple files and deadlines in a fast paced commercial environment.

Preferred

  • Experience with LINZ/signing and certifying;
  • Experience working in property finance, banking, or mortgage lending;
  • Familiarity with financial services regulation, including the FMC Act and PIE structures;
  • Exposure to default enforcement and PLA processes.
